6.5/06 or 6mm/06

 I have a long action 06, that isnt doing anything, thinking about working it over a bit just for a fun gun. Out of the 2 calibers listed, which would you pick and why. I know they are totally different ballistics wise, just want to see what others think about them.

I would do the 6.5/06 simply because loaded with a bonded 140gr bullet it would a useable gun  for any animal in the lower 48.

Make it a 6.5 those bullets have great b.c. and sectional density.

That would be pretty sweet.  That .260, while not a mag, is a helluva nice cartridge.

Yeah.......not really.  That cartridge is sort of a joke (IMO); I'd rather have a roberts.  A 257WSM would be ballistically similar to a 257 weatherby.

I agree, the .260 sounds like a sweet cartridge.

I agree a 257WSM, would be a sweet little game getter, not too many critters in the lower 48 that with a good X-bullet or an accubond in 120gr that I wouldn't poke a hole in with that gun.

I have to agree a 6.5 WSM is a good idea. I don't know why they won't make one after all they made the .325 WSM which I think is a great round but it won't last long. Becuase of the small selection of .323 inches bullets
