Utah Deer hunt
« on: October 31, 2008, 09:07:30 AM »
So here's a few pictures of my hunt in Utah. I hunted near Logan and then headed over to Bear Lake area. So the First few days we went up into the backcountry. We spent 4 days up there. Saw lots of deer, but all dinks and does. Opening morning we watched a nice 3X4 get shot..........okay it took them 5 shots to be exact. So we headed out Tuesday morning. My buddy had to work for a bit before we took off to Bear Lake. Wednesday morning found us sitting on a ridge glassing. Found more dinks and does. When I say dinks, they had to move there ears to see bone. That evening we decided to walk a few canyons and see if we could kick a deer or two out. We spotted a nice 2 pt (the biggest we had seen), we watched him bed. That night we sat around the table and worked a plan to get on him. Thursday morning arrived and after stuffing food in out mouths and a little Dew (mountain that is) with some chew, we where off to shoot a buck. After, working the lay of the land. My buddy took off to spot and see if he could find the deer feeding. He fed for about 5 mins and laid back down. So over the ridge we went..........I was a little off of mark and he popped up just behind me. The kid that went with me said there he is............I had to turn around to see him. To cut this short I shot him at round 250 yrds (Don't tell anybody, but I missed him at 100yrds).  I hit behind the right shoulder and the bullet lodged on the left side at the hide. Here are a few pictures the pictures of the mountain is of the backcountry we went into.
We spent the next few days looking for another, Saturday we spotted a good size deer..........dam my tag was filled. A kid with us shot a nice 3X4. I don't have a picture yet but will load one in the next few days.

All in all, it was a great hunt with great friends........I haven't done this hunt in the last few years and forgot how much fun I have there. I know for a fact that I will be back. Lots of animals seen, it is the bigs deer I have shot...............

Sounds like you had fun, congrats.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.
