I second the Biolite stove. Works great and isn't dependent on the weather.

Back home.  Rough week, no deer, lost camera and dragging a loaded raft over several shoals was not much fun.  Did catch several nice rainbow trout and had a good "camping" trip.  Loaded raft was way too big for this river, which resembled a creek in several locations.  I'll have to figure out a different location for this type of trip.  Only saw two does all week, no turkeys or turkey sign.  Pretty disappointing trip.

Bummer!  Doesn't sound like it was boring though.  And I expect you at least know you've done what few others have done.  When you look back later I bet it's an adventure you won't regret.  I've had a few like that where once I get over my disappointment of failed expectations I realize it was actually quite memorable.

Imagine what that would have been like with 5 deer and a couple of turkey added to the "load".  :chuckle:

 :chuckle:

I was hoping this was going to turn into an annual hunt, but the river is just not going to be big enough.  VERY beautiful area.  I was hoping for better deer activity/density, but that's the way it goes.  I had some GREAT photos, particularly one of the raft fully loaded, but while dragging my raft through one of the shoals it slipped out and gone.   :(  I'm really an idiot, I watched several YouTube videos on this river and read up on it and did not realize what "shoals" meant, I thought they were talking about rapids, but the shoals were places where the river widened and were only running a couple of inches deep.  Some of them were 50 to 60 yards long.  Here's a few photos from my phone, sorry about the quality.

All the comforts of home, but they forgot the roof!  :)

Check out this tree growing around this rock, very cool looking!
