We had a list of names on our way to pick up our little golden, once we met her, a completely different name, not on the list, popped up.  That's how Amber got her name.  I really think you need to meet the pup before assigning it a name.   :twocents:

Dogs growing up and now have always had single syllable names or short abbreviated nicknames for the field. I agree with letting them be at home for a week and then choose a name. Growing up we had one German Shorthair we ended naming RJFA. Running jumping fing around. Or RJ in the field. Good luck with the new pup.

When I picked dog names they had to adhere to the same criteria as above, but I had some additional requirements. I preferred 2 syllable names that could be yelled into the wind and heard from longer distances.
And the more important one was they  couldn't rhyme with any of the following: G*d D*mm*t, sum a b*tch, and just about any other swear word one can imagine. :chuckle: :chuckle:

Last dog I named- i named after a redhead I used to know. When people asked Why I had a dog named Rachel- I would tell them that I wanted to name her after one of the most destructive forces in the universe- a redhead.. but the truth is I just wanted to name her after someone who was friendly to EVERYBODY..
