Lewis and Grays Harbor County Rut
« on: October 21, 2013, 06:11:34 PM »
I have been out the last two weekends and have not seen too many deer.  :bash: I noticed we saw a lot more this last weekend and I have heard that people are seeing signs of rut activity on the west side. Anyone having any luck in Lewis and Grays Harbor county? I will be out again next weekend hitting it hard. Hopefully the rut will be going good because the weather doesnt look too promising.  :dunno:

The season has been horrible for me. The only time I have seen any deer has been if a buck is pushing a doe around. Just haven't been ready or paying attention when I finally see a nice buck. Always ready when a spike and small 2pt hold still of course.  :chuckle:

Been seeing rut activity since early muzzy season

Hope they stay in the rut for modern late season!

I passed on a spike on opening day.  Walked up on him on an old logging road.  He was at about 40 yards.  Pretty decent sized body and probably 6" long spikes.

My wife was disappointed that I passed on him; she was really looking forward to having deer heart.

I jumped 3 deer last weekend (maybe 4) in some reprod but it was so thick I never did see them.  Hopefully the hunting will get better.  This weather sucks for blacktail hunting. :P
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

My daughter and I rattled up a pretty nice buck on Sunday that we had jumped on Saturday.  He was in some really nasty stuff and only came out enough to see his eyes and the top of his head.  We couldn't make out how many points, just that he had a decent rack.  We are going to give him a couple more days to get horned up and then try him again wwith some more rattling and some nice blacktail doe estrus.

My old man was telling me he seen a 2x3 and its was in rut. I seen a 2x2 on my way home from fishing . It was in the Hoquiam water shed and his neck was swollon up so I would assume they are in rut in GH.

I saw a 3 point at around 10 a.m. Saturday.  You don't usually see decent bucks out and about during the day unless the pre-rut has started.....
