Brothers whitetail
« on: October 22, 2013, 08:09:41 PM »
Took my little brother to one of my spots about a 3 mile hike from our cabin most of it is pretty much straight up and down, ended up jumping a deer right after having lunch and we split up to see what it was. Ended up being a mule doe so we kept hiking splitting up towards the top of the hill, about 15 minutes later I hear a deer bust and a couple seconds later I hear a shot and then yaaaahoooo!!! I start heading towards my brother and after about a 100 ft could see the buck rolling down the hill I had to go down a little draw during that time losing sight of him and as I came back up I heard my brother shoot again. We both walk up to the buck and set our guns down and grab our knifes. I'm standing down hill from the buck and he looks like he is done, with a hole right in the shoulder/heart and one in the neck/ spine I'm thinking right on let the work begin. My brother tells me to take a couple steps back cause he says the buck moved a little, I just took 3 steps back and the deer jumped straight up in the air and charged me kinda losing his balance and knocking our guns over. Now he is running side hill and he is moving! My brother grabs his 30-06 and put one last one in his neck. What an amazing animal.. My brother said he was just walking up the hill and he literally stepped on him when he jumped up running about 25 yards and stopping broadside for a second.I have shot a few with bigger racks over the years but this one was a really special hunt with my bro. We were sore the next couple days..

Thanks guys he is very happy being his biggest whitetail to date. I usually don't take pictures but here's one I found of a pretty nice whitetail I shot a few years ago. I've shot a few with bigger racks but this was probably the biggest body whitetail I've shot. I still don't know why we decided to drag him 2 miles whole...
