M&P-10
« on: October 25, 2013, 11:39:23 AM »
Anyone on here have one? I have never owned a AR before and I am reading all the reviews i can and watching alot of videos. The reason i am considering the AR-10 first over a AR-15 is that i want to be able hunt big game with it.

S&W makes some great rifles! I have had experience with the M&P-15 and it was a great rifle to shoot, felt tight and felt like the proper time and attention was put into the rifle (gas key WAS staked properly lol).

However I have not had any experience with any AR-10's but I have heard they can be a mixed bag. Some are built really well (comes at a cost) others not so much (and still cost a lot).

I think the M-14's may be the better off the shelf .308 rifles. FAL is another option but its hard to find one that's not been Frankensteined.

Thanks for the reply. I was envisioning a matched pair of S&W M&P rifles. :chuckle: Also i am not very fond of the appearance of the FAL and i really wish Ruger would produce their version of the M-14 that they developed years ago.

By all means go for it a matching pair sounds awesome ! sorry I wasn't trying to sound like I was putting down S&W. I was just talking AR-10's in general, I have heard they have some reliability issues but if anyone could built a good one it would be S&W. I have owned and shot lots of S&W's stuff and they are always top notch. I only mentioned the M-14 and the FAL from a reliability stand point.

Let us know what you think of the rifle when you get it! :)
