It's been a week...
« on: October 26, 2013, 12:29:49 PM »
I don't see the trappers license option on the WDFW online website,  I see fur dealers/taxidermy options but not trappers license.

Wait another week?

Guess I should clarify,  I took the class a week ago and got my card right away so I know WDFW was sent their information they need right away too.
I assume someone at WDFW still needs to input my stuff then the website will populate my available options?

You cannot get your first license online, you have to go to an agent.  They probably mentioned that in class, but there was lots of info I'm sure.

Good luck.

The class is entirely dependent on the trainer/instructor for what you get out of it.
We had our class at the home of the instructor and spent a lot of time in the fur shed.

So really, it's impossible to answer that question unless we used the same instructor.

I would suggest you get to know your instructor as well as possible, or another accomplished trapper friend.  Especially for the fur handling aspects.

Hey KfHunter, You need to call WDFW and ask them to make sure it is in the system. I had to go to the Olympia office the first time. It is a pain but it was a lot easier that way. I would call.

There have been problems with the online license not just for first timers. I've complained and they said "Thank You for letting us know and we'll get that fixed right away" This was a year ago, more complaints, same result.
My advise: Go to a dealer. They might have to call Olympia for a first time license but I would bet they can fix you up without you haveing to call Olympia.

:yeah:

That is what happened to me last year. Just have the dealer call WDFW.

Thought I should update this....

I waited several weeks after taking my class before trying to buy the license at a vendor  (BigR).
So I go to the BigR and they have no idea how to sell me a license, so after some head scratching they call Olympia.

Turns out Olympia did not key in my trapper number or make that option available to the vendors.  So I had to give the vendor my trapper card number the instructor mailed to me and then they input the information and I was able to buy the license.

Now that I'm in the system I can buy online next time
