Blackjaw, he was at about 2800 feet hiding out in some knee high grasses off the side of a clear cut. I've noticed in these last two birds they were eating some dark blue berries of some sort and leafy greens (Not pine needles or anything along those lines.) There isn't a single time I've been out that one hasn't kicked up in front of me, just this time I had a shotgun in my hands

Sky - I didn't hear him when I was moving into the area so I don't believe he was calling. But then again I was making quite a bit of noise so I may have missed that low sound. Spooked quite easily, if I came up on one over on the east side of the cascades they don't fly far and are pretty easy to get at. This guy kicked up when I was about 15 yards out, glad my cat like reflexes were with me that day!
