Sweet buck bone!  Lets here the details, how far did ya have to track him after the shot, whered ya hit him at lets here the nitty gritty.  Awesome looking cape, I really like the short nose.  Looks like you were using wooden arrows how did they hold up?  Conrats good luck in Idaho and Montana.

Didn't make it to Idaho this morning, some duties at home called.  One must be helpful when your partner lets you have so much time afield.  I'll take off at 2 in the morning.  maybe make it in a day like last year.  :)
I spotted him at about  400 yards or so and dug out the camera.  I thought wow he isn't going to score well but he is one heck of a buck and I liked him.  I put the camera down and left it and my pack behind and started making the crawl.  the sage is pretty good sized here so I used it the best I could.  I had two does and a small buck I guess and the big guy was watching him.  He bedded right after I took the pic and was focused on the little guy.   I got to within 30 and he stood and shook and started to walk towards the doe.  I stood and drew.  He stopped to look at me and I hit him in the boiler room.   MY MISTAKE and I can't believe I am actually admitting this on an open forum.  I  shot the coyote the other day and put the arrow back in my quiver and forgot to sharpen it.  Then in my focused state grabbed the same arrow.  It did its job fine but didn't pass all the way through.  I GOT LUCKY!  He only went about 40 yards, stopped, and collapsed.  He gushed a whole bunch of blood out of his mouth.  I was like g thanks for the photo help friend.

I took this shot while playing yesterday morning looking for that big one to photo op.   I wonder if there was a big buck at the end of the rainbow.  I thought it was ironic that the fog cleared the day after I got my buck.

Here are a few more of the big one that will live another year.  Assuming of course that one of those other Road hunting Alta fellows don't decide to climb that mountain. :)
