Slow! I haven't hunted ducks/geese yet. ML elk season prevented me from getting out for the opener and I haven't been able to get out since. Early next month looks like it will be my opener. I hope the first migrators are showing up by then.

Have the multi season tag for elk, missed a nice 5x5 with the bow, did not see an elk during 1st season muzzle loader, but while my daughter and I were walking up an old logging road at first light we walked up on a grouse that was sleeping with his head tucked under his wing.  I got within two feet of it and butt stroked it with my Muzzle loader.  That was a first.  For deer season I killed a nice big 4x3 mulie on the Palouse we filled 4 out of 5 tags, and caught a couple of nice Catfish and shot two pheasants So it was a great deer hunt.  Wife booked us for two weeks in Hawaii so I will miss modern rifle elk :bash: and my daughter and I will catch late season muzzle loader elk.

Mine's been slow but have been getting some birds.  I'm gonna give it a break for a little while and pray for some cold and rain.

Busted a real nice fat Mallard drake this afternoon jump shooting. Other than that this weather really bums me out. Headed out at 0 dark thirty.... won't be a good morning other than drinking coffee and chatting with my Lab.

1rst day Ridgefield opened-- drew 3rd in the lottery, got 5 ducks.
2nd day-- drew nexrt to last in the lottery, got 2 big fat mallards- after falling in the water 5 times and ripping my waders just as I reached the blind-20 min before shooting time. Sat in the blind warming up, cleaned out the gun, had 4 mallards set on my dekes- got 2 of them.
With my new job, I will get back out next thursday and Saturday.
Deer hunting tomorrow.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

Been real slow on ducks. The boys and I are up to 50 lbs of Snowgoose meat in the freezer.  Lots of Juvies, it's been fun in the fog.  The fog has enhanced the ability to try and pick off the adult ones only.

Had my lab trained at Longhollow Retrievers this off season, and have been working with him a lot.  He pointed and retrieved a few grouse in Sept.  As far as ducks/geese, we've only been out once so far this season (Skagit Opening day), and he made his first retrieve from the boat on a teal, which was awesome.  This fog and lack of wind sucks.  We've elected to save gas and work on the boat/blind the last 2 weeks. (installing a cabelas northernflight blind+windstopper+flip top).  It should be ready to go this weekend... tempted to take it out on Sunday.
