Westside bears all gone
« on: October 24, 2013, 09:09:34 PM »
Have not seen any real nice westside bears lately, have they all disappeared?

I missed one today, probably a tad farther shot than I should have taken. Glad I missed as it was down at the bottom of the deepest canyon I could find  :chuckle:

Yes... the Western WA. Black bear population has now gone extinct.  Luckily the WDFW has outlawed hunting them until numbers improve.  Black bear from Maine will be trucked in and distributed throughout the state.

Reinstatement of the hunting season will be determined by the number of breeding pairs.  To constitute a breeding pair there has to be video evidence of them breeding in a monogamous relationship.  If that never occurs then any bears you see are a figment of your imagination and since they are imaginary there is no need to reinstate a hunting season.
