Head and hide gone ...
« on: October 25, 2013, 04:03:07 PM »
Didn't want to post this until we had too :/ my buddy had his head and hide sitting out by a tree next to his hanging deer and woke up in the morning and it was gone :( not pointing fingers but it's looking like thief with two legs not four .. We scanned the area multiple times no drag marks no paw prints and we did a 1000 yard circle around camp checking too see if a coyote just drug it off and picked at it .. It's not a monster deer just a 4x4 with eye gaurds but non the less a man is missing his memory .. Horrible to think that maybe someone snagged it and maybe I'm awful for thinking that but we can't find it near camp ... Just thaught I would put this up
be careful going in search of adventure its ridiculously easy to find.

Well, that sucks. Glad you at least have the pics. Congrats to him on a nice buck, just the same.

I hope it turns up, at least the horns would be good to have.  A friend of a friend had a 6 point bull head and cape stolen fro their camp a couple years ago. They found foot tracks a blood drips leading o tire traks up the road. Pretty crummy

How does someone have the nerve to steal the head and cape and then get it stuffed for themselves? Then have the nerve to tell someone that they shot it?  :bash:

Sounds like something my cousin would do, since he lives in MO, I know it wasn't him..

Had the biggest buck I ever shot ripped off at a restaurant parking lot just outside of Soda Springs, Id. many years ago.  A tough day of hunting and getting him packed out and loaded up. I had him tied up in the back of my truck and went in for a quick beer and burger. Lot was full of out of state hunters. I was in there not over a half an hour, came out and he was gone.... I was so pissed. It was a super buck.

Sorry about you friends loss.... there are some pieces of work out there, not just stealing the head but as you said, the memories. At least you have pictures, which I didn't get a chance to take.

I'd probably notify all the taxidermists in the state and email them the pics. Sorry to hear about it.

Well I can keep an eye out if it comes through my shop.

Dont look to hard at the one I brought in to you today!  ;) Doesnt it look uncanilly close to this one. His eye gaurds are bigger. But the forks look really close.

Glad I have pics of me with mine whole. :chuckle:

Sucks somebody would steal a guys deer head! Hope he is able to recoup it.
