Collagen casings
« on: October 24, 2013, 10:47:06 PM »
Anybody have a good website to by collagen casings a little cheaper? I am also looking a 3/8 stuffing tube for my vertical LEM stuffer and a good buy on dextrose powder. I got on Amazon but it all seemed a little expensive.

X2 for

Sausagemaker.com

I highly suggest going natural casings though. After years of experimentation with Pepsticks / sausage I have found the product is just better with a good quality natural casing.

As for the Tube I got mine directly from LEM.

I have always had good luck with collagen casings from http://www.waltonsinc.com/ . They also have great prepackaged spices for pepperoni, summer sausage, etc. and they are very reasonable.

Man you guys, thank you so much for those great leads. Funny story last year after duck season I went to get some casings at Outdoor emporium and they were out. The guy working there pretty much thought I was an idiot because it was right in the middle of sausage making season (I still am not sure of the dates of that season). I thought they should have stocked up for the imaginary season but we finally concluded that I was in the wrong for not stocking up early. So that is what I will be doing this year. Once again thanks for he great leads.

I have also found that the internet is the best source for getting materials during hunting season.  I never know if I am going to be successful, so I don't buy until I have meat in the freezer.  Funny how the salesman will tell you you waited too long, and I always tell them their ordering guy screwed them out of a sale...
