Great day for blacktails!

Alright those of us who haven't gotten their modern firearm blacktails yet, today is the perfect day to do it!  The rut is on, it is raining on anf off and we are expecting possible 30 mph winds this evening.  It don't get a lot better than that!  I'm headed out the door with my daughter for our last hunt of regular season.  Hopefully she can connect with that bruiser we saw last weekend.  Good luck to all of you!

Friday I saw a spike hanging out with a doe. First thing I thought......the RUT!.... I would have harvested, but the situation wasn't right. Don't think my Dad's neighbor wanted me shooting it in his front yard.
I need to go look in the basement for that old piece of antler I have. Rattling antlers.
BUTT.......I AM grabbing my  rifle and the gas card AS WE SPEAK........see ya out there!

Its been way to nice out here in the satsop unit all day. BUT I have heard more shot today than all last week combined. So that mist mean something good was going on today.

ive been out the last 8 days and today has been the worst by far...ive been seeing between 10-30 deer a day and i seen 4 today

Must be nice. this is the worst season I have ever had. I would give up hunting if my seasons were like this every year.

11 does and one small spike in Vail. Did come across a gut pile and a couple of dudes gutting out a big bodied buck. Didnt get into the woods til 11 or so.

Well, it was a great day for blackies around here.  My 80 year old neighbor shot a 4 point that was watching 2 other bucks (both 3 points) in full on battle in the pasture across the street at 11:00 this morning.  I had to haul cattle and missed the morning hunt.  Hit the woods a little after 1:00 with the daughter.  We rattled up 3 different bucks that were all swollen up.  One 3x4 that she never could get a clear shot at that came in hot with a doe, an okay 2 point (that she has passed on several times now) and a goofy looking 3 point.  She didn't want to shoot anything other than the biggest one.     Not sure why the rut isn't as strong in the neighboring counties but it full blown here.

Good day here  , Went out this morning with hunting partner to spot/call. Ended up seeing 2 good bucks that didn't play out, and a fork horn he passed. Only got out for a couple hours then family duty for me since I have an archery tag and its just play time!

Its been a weird year for the rut....one spot I hunted I seen bucks everyday there chasing does....as many as 5 bucks one morning in the cut then 1/4 mile down the road to my other spot that usually see bucks had hardly any rut action....one night I had 16 does feeding in this spot with not a buck in sight

Worst 2 days in the woods yet? Didn't see a thing, lots of road hunters out this weekend.

I have never seen a year like this one. I never saw a single deer this weekend!!! Wow, just wow! Been out six days for the year and have seen three deer, haha. Yay for me!

My wife just called me from down the driveway and there is a BIG 3 point pushing a doe around my pasture and through my cows.

I have spent the last 4 days hiking saw 2 does and 3 small bucks, lots of fresh rubs though.
