Hide and seek.
« on: November 06, 2008, 08:01:12 PM »
Been playing hide and seek with this fella for a couple yrs.  Have seen him several times, but no shot opportunities.
It never changes, but it is always different.

5" across the pad usually = an 18" bear.  Looks like a nice bear.

Thanks, don't have much experience with bears, I may go look for him again in a day or so.  This is a rock that looks like a foot.

are you sure that's not an ancient bigfoot casting that has been petrified?

I almost picked the rock up when I saw it.  Not sure if I could find it again..lol.
Went to look for the bear again.  No tracks where I have been seeing them..he may be denned up now.  There was 10" of snow a few days ago..just a couple inches left today.

Well, from one gramps to another: ain't it exciting?  I wish I could give you some positive advice, but Mr. Black Bear isn't that predictable.  I have seen Big bear tracks in the snow in the Pacific Northwest.  The only advice I can give is to put time in the woods, sooner or later your time will pay off.  Taking a black bear will take all the skill it takes to take an old buck.  The bear's nose is as good as a Whitetails.  Looking forward to your bear story.  Taking care of the meat (get rid of all the bear fat) will result in some really good meat!  Build'in memories w/your grandsons.
