Remington 700ML

Anyone ever shot or handled one of these? I am a loyal Remington guy and would like to get a Muzzie (other than the one my cousin gave me) I haven't ever heard anyone ever really talk about them so any feedback would be good

Nice modern muzzy if you can find one for sale. If it's for sale, the price is right

Great shooting ml. Just make sure you pull the bolt apart and clean the spring after a round of shooting.  If not it won't hit hard enough to fire every shot.  I learned this the hard way.

I had two of them and they are excellent muzzleloaders... Of course a stock Rem 700 is perfect for the PacNorWest.  They shoot most anything well.  There are a few mechanical issues such as the hammer spring, which is easily replaced with an upgraded Wolff spring and the fact that you really need to take the bolt apart and clean it after shooting.

But overall a very good one - I really wish Remington had hung in there and continued to upgrade the 700 as time went on.  They like most any of the American Companies can complete with the cut rate pricing of CVA and Traditions...

The 700 was my 1st inline. I still like it. If you can find 1 in good condition and the price is right, I would be all over it.

Still my muzzleloader of choice, but there are others out there that I would replace mine with if mine was no longer working.

I bought mine used 10 years ago, still shoots great.

They are O.K. I shot 2 and my buddy still shoots one, both o.k. as far as accuracy goes. Nothing really screams great to me about them.

I have had one for about ten years.  I shoot the 325 grain Expander MZ with 110 grains of Triple 7.  Real accurate.  My bull went 25 yards this year.  I have had several guys offer to buy it over the years.  Some of the offers were very generous but I like it too much.  I haven't had any experience with any others so I can't compare.  My first muzzleloader and it does the job so why change?

I'm wondering would it be worth the money to upgrade from the ML I have and never shot or should I just shoot my freebie for a couple years and get a knight. Everybody seems to really like the knights. In my search for info on the Remington I did find that brownells has replacement breach plugs if any of y'all need one

  I like the 54  Remington I shoot  got a few nice deer  an elk or two as well  now that Sabotloader has gave be a bit of advice on loads and bullets  I like it all that much more .  I know there are newer guns out there but the Remington  in line works pretty darn good so  i stick with what works  and try to improve  what  I can  load and bullet      over all no complaints about the rifle at anytime    .

Meh I am not a knight fan. I keep hoping there will be another company jump into the NW legal race and put out a solid smoke pole. I just picked up a 2nd cva elkhorn because I like them so much but there could be some upgrades in the market for NW legal guns.

managed to snag another  54 cal Remington for my son this past year.  He really likes it  was able to take  his first spike deer with it   . hes really enjoying adjusting his loads and the power belts he shoots .it all seems to work just fine for him    powder charges of  80 to 120 gns  he likes to use  both  2 f and 3 f  powder . so i guess if it works for ya its just fine then he  has some real nice groups at 75 and 100 yards .  trying to push it out to 150 yrds but hes still working on that

It seems to me that the Knight Disk and the CVA Buckhorn are basically a copy of the Remington 700 ML design; which means a modern rifle design adapted to muzzleloading.  All three have a nearly useless bolt....it don't lock the breech, it don't feed, and it don't extract.  All it does is move the firing pin behind the cap....and make the rifle longer than it needs to be.  The Knight disc is still my favorite because the quality seems to be high, but I don't really see any innovation there.  I think the break action guns will win out in the end.....when they finally make one that's not junk.   They allow easier access to the cap and don't add length to the rifle. 

In fact, if a side-lock rifle had a breech plug (a major convenience) there wouldn't be a huge advantage to an inline anyway. In my humble opinion.
