Long Swamp Bull
« on: October 28, 2013, 09:55:09 PM »
Found this guy over the weekend...long ways through the spotter in the snow, so not the greatest picture.  He was hanging with another cow, and for some reason, a 3x4 mule deer...

Anyone ever seen a deer running with moose before?  I thought it was a little odd...

During the general season when I'm in the Tripod I usually only see moose in the damp areas and the deer up on the ridges.

Are they Canadian moose moving in from the north or are they Shiras moving in from the east.  The ones Ive seen and pics look like they are bigger bodied like Canadian moose, but most sightings and sign have been high up on ridges and not in swampy low areas like Shiras.  Anyone have any insight on which sub species.  Nice pic BTW!

I think they're shiras because although theyre big there not as big as the canadians and never seen one with a big enough rack to say canadian. plus they look just like the ones we see down by wanacut but just my  :twocents:

yeah id like to see a hunt open up there too over the summer we were seeing about 10 12 a day easily. lots of calves and young bulls to so they are breeding up there a good deal too. called a young "spike" 15 yards to me and his shoulder was up to the hood of the truck they sure are big buggers
