Here's a strange search, it happened on the opening day of Elk season 2012 on the Cow-Mill Rd. My wife and I were driving down the road looking for a new spot when we were stopped by a woman walking our way. She said she and her boyfriend had an Elk down but, she got her truck stuck getting to the downed Elk. We picked her up and went to see how bad.....it was bad! After meeting the boyfriend we hiked back to the truck to give her a ride to town. As we get back to the truck a small herd crossed the road and I took a spike. My wife spent the better part of the day driving her around to get help. Nobody hunting would even talk to them. They finally made phone contact and she had some friends on the way. My wife and I got my Elk to the road a few hours later and loaded it up. As we were driving out, almost dark, we find her walking out so we pick her up. Her "friends" no-showed so we gave her a ride to Tieton where she made contact again with a family member. I think their names were "Matt and Kim" and had a white Dodge pick up. Since it happened during Elk season, I thought I'd post this here. Does anyone know these people and did they ever get the truck out with out incident? Thank you for any info.  PS, there may be a moral to the story here? Had we not stopped to help, we would had never seen the Elk and had a shot! It pays to help out!

Thanks go4it, My problem is, I will always wonder what the outcome of a situation is like that.

I'm not the one however it reminds me of our angles in the woods Hubby and I had slid off the road and got stuck It was about 4 pm 520 unit after walking about 30 min and no one stopping ( see I had fell in the mad and was pretty muddy) this Guy with his wife/girlfriend stopped in this new truck and offered us a ride to our motor home  they not only gave us a ride but took us back with our chains and helped  pull us out giving up their hunt that night and getting mud on their new seat/floor . I don't know if they every got their Elk but I do know they are our angles for helping. Another huge Thank You! I will pay it forward if ever in that situation.  http://hunting-washington.com/smf/Smileys/default/thumbsup.gif

After starting this and reading the comments, I started to think of the times that I left in a hurry to get to my hunting spot. Darn near every time I'm running behind, someone needs help or, there's an unavoidable situation. Whether its a pickup with elderly hunters that need a jump start at the gas pump or an unprepared hunting buddy. I'm the type that's always hurrying but, when these things happen and I stop to help, something good happens. Hate to sound mushy......damn, maybe I'm just getting older? Probably shouldn't even post this but Christmas is right around the corner.

huntinggirl, your story just reminded me of the time my wife and I, with two very young kids of ours buried our lifted Suburban to the rockers in hard frozen over snow at our cabin near Satus Pass. Finally a truck stopped also with two small kids in a brand new Ford Pickup, they picked us up and took us back to our Suburban, this guy with the stickers still in the truck windows got real aggressive and yanked our rig out. Never saw them again. Makes ya wonder.
