Hi guys, New here and thought I'd get the 1st post underway.

I was wondering if anyone would kindly share any advice with me about hunting the southern part of Coweeman (GMU 550). I'm planning on hiking in on Hanson Rd out of the Battle Ground Unit (564) and heading NorthEast towards the DNR land. Talked to the loggers and found out the road isn't open to driving, so it looks like I'm going to hoofing it.

Take a short trip North and go in at the end of Rose Valley Road in Kelso. A lot more country and have been seeing more elk in the past few days. We saw a nice 5x5 bull next to the gas station a few days ago.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to head up there tomorrow. Was all over in the southern part and didn't see much sign, let alone elk.

Don't expect to hunt there. :bdid: It's all private and WAY too many houses. There is a herd that runs thru there but unless you know someone they are untouchable. Lots of access though off R.Valley Rd. and lots of land! Good luck!

Tons of weyco land at the end of RV, I live up there and hunt it all the time.

Thanks for the advice again, think I'm sticking to the legal area's that I know of. Finally got on some sign (day late dollar short). Rose valley road was too crowded for me and the abundance of "no hunting, no trespassing" signs was enough to go back to the area that I had scouted before.

Now if I could just figure out the time they are traveling through the area would be great. The funnest part is watching all the people drive by the area 200 yards away from the heaviest sign area I've seen this year.

Tons of weyco land at the end of RV, I live up there and hunt it all the time.
There are a lot of weyco gates out there for sure. I live in the valley as well. I was just saying not to hunt around the store( or expect to). The herd that hangs out behind Larsens place were all out there the other day with a couple of legal bulls in it. The hunters I did see were brake checking as they went by. :chuckle:

Guys always like to stop and gawk at the elk they can't hunt..   :chuckle:
If you were seeing tons of no trespassing signs in rv you just need to go farther up the road... opensup to almost endless open hunting area... just watch the toutle boundary depending where you are.

For sure, you can't hunt in the lower valley. You need to get up at the weyco entrance on Zillig Rd.
