Difference Between Deer and Elk Hunting

Hey Fellas, this will be my first hunt for Elk. I was just wondering if there are any differences between deer and elk hunting. Any tips or advice helps. Thanks

Deer are more sensitive to sound, elk their nose.  When deer spook, they might go a ways and circle or hide.  Elk tend to change zip codes.   Use your ears even more when hunting elk.  They make a lot of noise, which I think is why my first point is.

Elk hunting is more crowded. It's just harder to get away from other hunters. I think because elk are more concentrated in certain areas, while deer are in general more spread out. And there aren't any secret elk areas anymore.

  bit of an understatement.  Most people I know quit chasing elk during the craziness of the 'good old days' of the 70's--a few made their kids promise not to get elk tags.  They tell me I must be a few mules short of a pack string to hunt elk in Washington and that it's been nice knowing me.

Elk are 3 times larger.
Elk poo is 3 times larger.
Elk tracks are 3 times larger.
The gut piles are 3 times larger.
The taxidermy bill is close to 3 times larger.

To add to what boneaddict said above, if elk bust because of sound, they have been known to circle so they can confirm what they did not discover via smell.

If you are hunting close to home (wet side), the elk don't change zip codes in my experience

Elk hang out in bigger herds, more eyes to see YOU with.

I pick the pace up. Deer hunting im always sneaky. Elk i mob and try to find fresh sign to fallow.
