What to do
« on: October 31, 2013, 09:52:24 PM »
I'll start off with a little introduction . I just sort of jumped on here as a new member and never introduced myself  . I've done a lot of stalking but not a lot of posting and I do LOVE the sarcasm on here . I  started hunting at 12 with my father , went to archery at 16 , my dad switch over when I was 20. When I was 23 I shot my first elk only to have some one else beat me to the animal and tag it , 3 weeks later my hunting partner/ father died of a heart attack . :'( I walked away from hunting and chased nothing but steelhead for the next 25 years. Three years ago I got back into archery and brought along a new partner , my wife . Last year I tagged my first deer in 25 years , shot a doe . This year I drew the Kitsap Quality archery buck tag . Nov. 1 - 13 . What to do ? I figure this is going to be a rut tag and I have areas that I have scouted . I'm going to carry a rattle bag , doe can , grunt tube and a fawn bleat . If you guys had this tag how would you hunt it? Call , spot and stalk , just sit and watch and then make a move . I'm taking vacation so I will be there Nov. 2 - Nov. 11, sun up to sun down , the first 2 days my wife will be tagging along so still hunting is probably out , just to much noise with 2 people together . Thanks

First, enjoy the time with the ol lady.

Then drag a scent wick and kill a big buck!

Good luck!

Still hunting can be done with two people. I have had people with me on three of the deer I have harvested. Just get a little space between the two of you and move slow like a couple of deer would when they are feeding. You'd be surprised at how well this can work at times!

If you have a good spot already and are bow hunting I would invest in a tree stand.  :twocents:  Rifle would be a different story.  Good luck.  If you need a hand PM me.  I don't have any really good stand spots picked out, but have been hunting some clearcuts out there that are holding deer and would be a good place to start looking for a good stand location.
