Just came across a Brittany for $350
« on: October 31, 2013, 01:54:55 PM »
6 month old for 350 in Eastern Wa. I just need to try to convince the women to buy him. I owned one back when I was in school. joined the military and she passed away. a while back I bought a Springer and he just passed last year. Been looking for another Spaniel for a while for the right price due to being on a budget. Man I hope she goes for it!

I have no reason to believe its related but somebody put a lost Brittany sign on the Watt Canyon fence about a week ago. I think it said the dog had some kind of coat when they lost it
And I think God must be a cowboy at heart
He made wide open spaces from the start
He made grass and trees and mountains and a horse to be a friend
And trails to lead ol' cowboys home again

Did it have a pic or a description? Do you know how old the Brit was when it was lost? I would not want to buy a lost dog from someone who found it, rather find the owner instead.

However, the one I am referring too does come with papers. Not sure how you could get papers if you just happen to find a dog? :dunno:

I'm pretty certain if it has papers its not the lost dog. I read the sign but didnt pay too much attention to details.

After posting this thread I received a pm. A few calls later and with very little cohercing the wife I head over to meet the the new 1 yo puppy. After some good conversation and a trip to the bank I am headed home with a Springer Spaniel. Included is a kennel, dishes, toys and some food to hold me over for a day.  Way more  then what I was expecting! Did I mention that they were great people?

We get home and I open the kennel door to let him out..... He just sits in the kennel.. I unlock the house, grab the kennel with the dog still in it, place it on the ground. He bolts out nad startss sniffin around staying in the yard. I grab the kennel and head in the house, he is right behind me. Great dog and minds very well.

We have a fenced in back yard on a small lake with lots of duck! We head out back, he steps off the porch, sees the ducks and locks up into a stance staring at the ducks. I am thinking to myself this is a good sign, but I do not plan on hunting ducks with him. Pheasants and other upland birds but not ducks.

After a few mins of sniffing around and doing his buisness, back in the house we go. He took to his new home very well. Great dog, very lovable and energetic. Just like the other Spaniel  I used to have.

He is a great Springer and our family will enjoy him and our future hunts together!

thank you huntingfool7 for all the memories that will come in the future! We will keep in touch and bring Hurly to visit.

You guys are going to have a lot of fun. Springers are special dogs. Don't rule out duck hunting, with proper training ( or even improper training) you could have a very capable duck dog.

My first hunting dog was a springer and I have never been able to replace her.
