Agreed.  Also tough to tag out after two days, but that dilemma is part of the fun!  I had a late tag last year, and learned that seeing big bucks in that country and getting a good shot at them can be two completely different things.

I think he'll post up a longer story and more pics.

I was up scouting for my late archery tag this weekend.  The snow on Saturday started at 3700' and we went all the way up to 4500' before turning back.  The snow hadn't starting piling up yet when we were up there and we were running out of daylight so back down the hill we went.

Steven's had probably 4" of new snow and was snowing heavily when we came home Sunday.

I'm gettin' giddy....

What permit?

Thanks all, here are a few more pix WAcoues was referring to, and thankfully took (he takes mighty purty pix on the mountain).

I'll have to post a couple more from the camera which are even better when I can write more details about the hunt.  It keeps amazing me that in the pictures with the whole deer the rack looks small but when you look at the rack alone it is still freakin' sweet and tall.
Considering I spent 3 days in 245 during modern with some other friends in65+ weather, even up high, without seeing much sign or action, and nearly the same story on Friday in 247 checking many nooks and crannies from top to bottom, this opportunity was too good to pass up. I was prepared to come back and hunt more later in the hunt once the rut was hitting harder and more weather had set in, but this buck and situation was just too good to pass up.  Very happy to have this buck and to have put a good shot on him.

Here are a couple more photos, mostly the same, but slightly different angles on the rack.
When we saw the 3 does crossing the draw, you just knew wished a buck like this was going to be chasing them.  A quick check with the glasses confirmed all we needed to know.

Great buck for sure.

I have seen a few 388 Late bucks that have hit the ground. One masher and a couple mid sized for our area.

 Your right the picture of the deer alone is deceiving because of the body size yet when your in the picture you can really see the mass and height. Great buck!
