Whitetails are creatures of edges! clearcuts, fields,CRP, creeks, rivers rock bluffs and cliffs. They will usually always skirt the edge of any of these or just inside. Small ridges in the timber the bucks will travel these scent checking for does. Saddles are good for cruising bucks going from one draw to the next.Pinch points where the deer travel is forced to move thru a certain area undetected example is finding 2 big clear cuts where they are near each other creating some big timber between the 2..you know that if deer need to go up or down the mt they will travel between the 2 cuts or they will skirt the corners of the outside edges of the cuts..deer are lazy and will take the easiest most efficent route possible with cover in mind. Be aware of where and how the deer are using the area...You dont wanna head in the morning before light if you going to tromp thru where they are feeding to get to where u wanna be. Find another way in or just wait.
