bucks of the Malhuer
« on: November 03, 2008, 02:49:59 PM »

Met up with my buddy, Ricochet, for a photo outing on the Malhuer Refuge in Oregon. I was only there for a couple of days, had to come home to take care of some business but planning on going back tomorrow for the rest of the week.  Saw lots of nice bucks, the rut is just now starting. Saw several bigger bucks off in the distance but they never came within my camera range.  Hopefully in the next week or so the rut will pick up and the bigger bucks will come down closer.  It snowed pretty good in the Steens last night which should drive more does down into the refuge.  Hopefully, more big bucks will follow the does.  There is a big 7X7 that is just a hog but I haven't been able to get a picture of it yet.  I'm hoping in the next day or so, he will get less cautious and start chasing the girls so I can get a picture of him.   One of the pictures is of a drop tine buck and a black doe.  We have seen the black doe for 3 years or so.  When we first saw her as  a fawn, she had a brother but haven't seen him in a couple of years.  The doe is completely black, no white on her.

Here's the picture of the black doe that Ricochet's wife calls Sassy.

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks, I'll have some pictures of some real hogs to post.
Thanks for looking.

Nice pics, that first 5X4 would make book and that 3 point would get a spot on the wall too. Pope was supposed to be there this weekend but got cancelled.

Ok Elkman, we have seriously got to get down there, even if we are both divorced by the time we get back it might be worth it...  Great pictures of some huge bucks Jeff.  I'm really disappointed we couldn't make it but there is still time...

:( Damn, I really wish we could have came down  :bash:

Anyone know any good babysitters in the Puy/Tacoma area that can help get the kids ready and to school in the mornings?
Hell, I have only got to go fishing 4 times THIS year. Plus trying to get the time to Hunt, it is the only thing that I made perfectly clear when we got married, I get a week in early and late season  ;) , so I got that going for me.  :chuckle:

Great pics Jeff! are those with your 200 and a 2xTC? or just the straight 200?

The only thing I think I would change is the resize of 3,4,5,6, and 7. they need to be there native res. so they don't pixalate.
Im asuming it's a crop of the original or that's the size you uploaded. The original's on the steensmountain site look better.
Plus great PP!

Either way, We will meet in the future!

Oh, hope you don't mind, thought I would post the smaller size to show off the true quality.
