OK, as promised I'm back early. A little more hunt story first.
My cousin had dropped me off at first light to glass the area we were in the day before and he went off to check some other spots. About noon I had made my way to the top of the ridge and could look over the back side and into some cuts to the west. JT and I had planned to meet up on top about this time so I started glassing for him and finally found him frantically waving his arms at me at the far edge of the clearing. I knew some thing was up so I took off to see what was up.
I got to the spot and he said he had found a huge bull in the timber. It took 15-20 min before the bull turned and gave me a look at his antlers. I turned to JT and said, "We are going to kill that bull!"
I had packed my Mathews every day but where this bull was I didn't think I could get in close enough so I unstrapped the muzzle loader from my pack. Lets just say the next 10 minutes were very action packed but I ended up killing him with one 80 yard shot.
There were a lot of emotions that took over when I walked up to my bull but the realization of how big he is is still trying to sink in!
There is no way I would have found this bull if not for the help and guidance of several people and appreciate every bit of help and advice given. I hope karma gives each and every one of them their own moose tag next year and if so, I'll be there to help pack!
