Here in Northern VA we've had several nights of single digits and a few days of teens for highs and they are returning next week.  Three nights of single digits....someone up north forgot to shut the door!!

Pulled a good chunk of my high country line last night... I was riding my snowmachine in ice, dirt and i think a little snow  :o I still have four lower elevation spots out (around 40 snares and a couple foot holds) I will check one tonight and the rest most likely this weekend. Sounds funny but its nice it cooled off again, looking forward to a dusting of snow for track but its not even in our forcast,  23 this morning  ;)

I went out and checked just a couple snares today and took my jack russel with me and she promptly found one of my snares. I have to say I wish I could've got it on video. She came flying down the trail and faster than I could yell at her to stop she flew into one. Perfect catch! Stopped her cold, lol. She let out a little yelp, scared her but then just sat there waiting for me to let her out. I know she was thinking "not again..."

Well guys figured I should give an update. Here it's goes, slow!!! Crazy winter no snow, high winds with red flag warnings. Single digits to maybe teens. Gusts up to 75mph. Not much moves in that crap. Going to give it another week and then pull until spring water season. Headed up at the end of the month flying to get a few more hours in, I'll take some good pics. Positive side it's been a great winter for the moose, there all over the place. Special draw permits should be out up here the 21st I'll let you guys know if I pull anything. I've got stuff out for everything. We will be moving out of the lodge this month as well back into town so I can finish prepping the lodge out for guests and they will start staying again soon. They say this summer is supposed to be like last summer and if it is you really need to get up to AK! Went 5 weeks last summer with the top off the jeep!

Not sure if I've ever given a web address to our lodge, check it out: alaskadreamslodge.com

Good luck and be safe on your lines!

Looking forward to a good spring bear season up here so I'll keep the thread up and running still for a while. I've been trapping still but haven't been keeping my journal very up to date  :'( :P  I picked up a nice red this last weekend and another one that a coyote decided looked like a good snack... lnothing but feet and a head left so I reset and hopefully will pick up the yote on a return snack visit.

I sent you a pm.  Reed

Reed been super busy don't think I got your PM? I'm pretty much done for the general season at this point I'm waiting for watervtobopen ion of and and that shouldn't be long.

Saylean, thanks it's been a lot of fun. If we stay in AK we are going to expand the lodge business out. I've been looking at lodges on the Kenai. My wife has a very good granite, flooring, cabinet business we have been thinking of putting on the market. She started it in '95 and is just ready for a change. She loves the outdoors and hospitality industry so lodges fit well.

Trapping season has been very different this season. We are now starting to get out and look for brown bears coming out of their dens. Put almost 100 miles on this week on the sled.
