I'm not 100% sure. I was going to ask him a few questions about it when I dropped it off. I don't think it needs to be much lighter, and I'm not sure what the X-Mark comes set at from the factory. I don't want it too light though. Any suggestions?

EDIT: After some reading, it looks like it comes set at about 5lbs from the factory.

Never had my trigger done either but I have a couple rifles I'd like to get the trggers lightened up.  I've kind of started looking around and I hear 3 - 4 lbs on hunting rifles with factory triggers.  Not saying that is the absolute answer but I hear those weights a lot.

The Timney I just had installed is set at just a hair over 2 lbs. It's a little lighter than most guys like but I had Jack check the trigger on my other rifle and it was 2 lbs so I had him set it so it would be the same. It's great as long as you shoot it enough and get used to it. 3 lbs would probably be plenty light though.

Dropped it off to Jack a couple hours ago, and he said I will probably be able to pick it up tomorrow.  :IBCOOL: We talked for a bit, and he is going to aim for around 2 1/2lbs. It was just a hair over 4lbs from the factory. Hopefully I can squeeze it at a yote this weekend.

There is a gunsmith not far from Tenino on 93rd Avenue, just off of Hwy 99. I just had him install a new Timney trigger in my Weatherby Vangaurd a couple of months ago. He works out of his house and you need to make an appointment to see him, but he responds promptly to email. His name is Jack Morris, phone number 360-352-4083, and email is cumberlandsports@msn.com.

He is not listed in the phone book so you will not find him there.

I also just recently have seen a sign for "gun repair" just west of Rochester on Hwy 12. Don't know anything about it, just noticed the new sign within the last few weeks.

Didn`t even know there was one there, thank you.

Well, sadly I had to pick up my gun today without the trigger being adjusted. He doesn't have the tools needed to adjust the new Remington triggers. He is going to keep trying to contact people to figure out how to do it, and if he does, he will give me a call. Super nice guy, and I will take work to him in the future.

That's too bad. Have you considered replacing the trigger with a Timney?

Not a Timney, but I have been looking at the Jewell triggers...

The factory X-Mark was breaking anywhere from 3 3/4 to 4 1/4 so I may not worry about it right now.
