Wolves outnumber hunters over here now so I wouldn't bother going east of the PCT there's no game left.

That rumor was going around here about 5 yrs ago. B.S. if you ask me, I'm not a fan of how the tribe manages game around here but I know that they wouldn't even do something as dumb as this

Excuse me if this has been on here but I really dont want to go looking . Was talking to my buddy today about his elk hunt over in the cowichee.. he said he struck up a conversation with a land owner that said the yakima tribe and the state worked together to release a few breeding pair of wolves. Where I do not know? does anyone on here?
Also he said that out of all those wolves aparently there are only 9 left.  I find that funny

Ever hear of the Forest Carnivore Project? It's on their website  and the "Comprehensive Wildlife Management Plan" is "to restore the native complement of carnivore species".

If I need a permit and education to buy a firearm than women should need a permit and education  before getting an abortion.

Well I would think that it would be releasing of wolves that were live trapped then collared and released. As it is against the wolf introduction for the WDFW to actually release them. They were suppose to self populate kind of like go West little wolf.

I have seen two wolves in 346, but it was in the early 90'S..  No doubt they were wolves.  One was solid black, he was huge and about 50 yards from me..

I cover alot of ground and have not seen one since then or tracks
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

I spend 50+ days a year in the cowiche. I highly doubt there are wolves in that unit

Yes their is wolves in cowiche unit. Tracks and have first hand sightings. Even though DNR has had a bilogist enter areas of interests. But what you'd expect, they reported large coyotes. Typical...... :bash:

If there are wolves in the yakima area don't you think they'd be wiping out the elk at the feed stations?

No I do not, there would have to be multiple large packs before we started seeing devastation like that. We do not have packs like that "yet"

Why would it take multiple large packs before they'd move to the feeding station?

Your mind is obviously made up in this topic and that's fine. Until you see one you will not believe that there are wolves in these mountains in question. For your 50 days a year in the mountains it could take you 5plus years before you saw one. Or you could see one tomorrow.

I have no doubt that there are wolves in the area, at least venturing down here from the teannaway, I've followed wolf posts on this site for a couple of years now and paid close attention to reports concerning anything in Yakima County, I've talked to several people who have seen wolves here. No doubt that we have wolves.

I am not sure how pinpoint accurate those details are, but close.   The tribe is monitoring a pack somewhere on Satus.  A member on here and friend of mine is part of it.  He can speak up to what he knows if he wants.  It might effect his job, so he might not.  The last time I talked to him about it was this spring.   As for other wolves in the area, I have tracked them in the Nile, if I remember correctly, three of them I figured.  I have also seen tracks in the Manastash (singles)

You could be the laziest wolf in the state on the Yakima Res. I bet a few could eat carrion and never have to chase down a live animal. There are such a huge surplus of mustangs on that chunk of land that I don't know how the tribe could even keep track of all the dead ones.
Which side are you on if neither will claim you?

I know, and they are doing so much damage.   Hopefully they like horsemeat more than antelope.

I know this is a different topic, but have you heard anything about how many of those antelope have stuck around the reservation?
