You could probably fit a couple small states in the size of public land that's available to hunt on the west side of WA. It blows my mind when people post these questions. Not trying to flame the OP but look at all of the state forest and national forest land, just as the tip of the iceberg. There's more land there than a person could hunt in there lifetime and there is game on most all of it.

So you live in Arlington? I'm not familiar with that area, but I think you might find some good areas if you head up towards Stevens Pass and get into the National Forest.

I am looking to maybe find a good spot down in the southwest GMU's I ve never been down there and would like to mill around a bit. Bmonti76. I understand where you are coming from but people are just trying to let you know that it is hard for us to help people who rarely post or who we know nothing about. This is a give and take forum where most of us are willing to help others out and expect the same if we have questions. If all your posts are questions and no posts with other stuff then what is our motivation to help? Get my drift?

You will find you will get back what you contribute on a forum like this, and unfortunately for you posts do show how much time you are on the site hopefully at some point contributing.  Many people on here have families, and jobs as well the ones who are successful regularly take time away from their families to research areas to become successful.  This time of year there are tons of posts just like yours that are met with some skepticism, and they all seem to have a reason why they couldn't do the legwork to locate their intended target. I wish you success in your hunt, and hopefully this isn't the last we see of you.

look at wdfw harvest statistics, find a unit that has a decent harvest, go and PARK, GET OUT OF TRUCK, hunt.
I went out to with a newb just to pick chantrelles (I am a bowhunter, he had his first modern tag), and pretend I knew something about deer hunting.
We drove in DNR land near Doty, behind 3 trucks in the early morning.
I had him park at a rock-pit, we got out and walked top edge of clearcut, found a good trail.
Followed trail along top of clearcut and watched trucks drive by on road at bottom, and a doe enter treeline.
As I investigated a few rubs, I noticed an overpowering smell of deer.
I told him (the newb) that there was definitely a buck around.
We left, but the next morning my friend went back to that spot, and missed a 4X4 in that exact spot.
Now I have to teach the newb that "sighting" in a rifle is more than hitting high at 35 yards with an /06 on a paper plate. 
My point is, I saw AT LEAST 10 trucks drive past our spot, but nobody stopped and got out...
Deer are everywhere !!

And with a response like that you should get lots of help and information. Some advice, it's not really a public forum, it's privately owned and operated. You had to be approved to be a member. Also, we all like to share info here about hunting g spots, family, etc. This site is truly like one gigantic disfunctional family. We may not always get along, but I for one don't ever hold a grudge or ill feelings towards someone I may vehemently disagree with. Good hunting spots are like finding a pot of gold, your not going to share that with anyone that hasn't done you a favor or your not close with.

I learned my lesson the hard way when I first started posting. I know it's nothing personal against me, but I had exhausted myself searching the internet for answers to questions I had. Like you and many others on the forums, we have kids and full time jobs as well.

I have lived in WA State most of my life but never hunted here, I had no clue what it would be like. When I did decide to hunt, I decided to head over to Eastern WA. I have hunted White Tail before in MO and I figured I would have better luck with them than Black Tails. 2012 was an expensive hunt for me. I did not fill my tag in WA. Went to Idaho and got lucky, but I paid the price with the tags and gas.

When I posted on the forums looking for help, I knew what I was getting into, just had no idea that some people are a holes about it. Now I totally understand them but I will do what I can to help someone out as some on these forums will as well. I am trying to put in my time and get to know some folks. So far it has been working out good.

I am still on the outside looking in and one day I hope that the door opens and someone lets me in, until then I will continue to know my place and take the scraps when they are fed to me.

I would plan on the Pe El tree farm. You'll be surprised by how much access you'll have to good deer hunting on the Pe El tree farm. No need to plan just head over!

I've read a lot of your posts and I do like you.  I had no idea you were having a hard time.  If I did, I would have offered help.  I'm nowhere near your area but, if you're ever interested in hunting Mason County area, PM me.  I'll get you to some areas that hold deer.

Sooooooo I stand before you all a humble man!!! I get it gentleman nobody wants to feed the lazy dog a bone and I truly do appreciate your integrity and pride to your forum! I do however think that it is somewhat ironic that I am now getting lots of response from many after I whined a little louder. I truly appreciate the help so far guys. I am not looking for a gimmie just some general direction. The west side is vast and dense, I was hoping to just compare some harvest reports to some suggestions from you all. I will google earth on top of go hunt topo maps to isolate a good starting point.

As for me personally I am 37 years old UW alumni GO DAWGS!!!! I am a Registered Nurse at Pacific Medical Center I work in the Marketing department. I am the manager of team called the Living Well Alliance. I go out into the community and perform health risk assessments, provide educational presentations and help design wellness programs. I love my job thankfully as I commute from Arlington to Downtown Seattle every day. As mentioned before I am married with three children at home and one out on her own. I am a Christian. I attend church every Sunday except for when I am in the hills and on those days I worship in a gods country. I also attend functions at my church twice during the week. I coach my 5 year old sons soccer, help with my 9 year olds softball. I love my family they are the most important part of my life.

Gentlemen thank you for your help so far. I will try and participate more I do want to be a part of the club, and I get it outsiders should have to earn their way

Late season is best time.  I saw a big Blackie Buck on my way home last night.  Definitely starting to rut, as he had his head down sniffing for tail that crossed the road just before he did.  Sorry, it was private property near Duvall (and not mine...LOL).  So, I can't be much help.  Plus, I don't really know the Arlington area.

Last time we had a serious discussion about C-Post it involved a person that lives fairly close to the new gate. I understand that they are a little less than inviting...kinda crazy.

unit 437 & 448 closed Oct. 31 for mod. firearm and no late hunts in these units either (unless you're a special permit holder). It's either islands, SW WA or way northeast WA.

I suggest picking an open unit, buying one of those potable blind/lawn chair things (to keep the rain off) and scouting.
Deer are everywhere, just need to be in the field when they come out.

I guess it depends on how far you want to travel. The problem I have had with hunting a location that I do not know, I seem to spend more time scouting then hunting. Like some have said, find a good GMU that is open and with good statistics. Get over and scout if you can. I know I will be out this weekend, I have my boys and they will be with me. its either I bring them or I stay home. Staying home is not an option if I want to get my wifes tag filled. No I have not filled my tag yet either, but I do not care about mine this year, more concentrated on my son and wife. Son got his doe, now my wife needs to get her first deer. 

If you are up to it and you want to go up with us, I will be more than happy to have you come along. Be prepared for a little bit of a hike and some rain maybe a little snow. The roads I go up are only maintained for a certain ways. PM me if you are interested and maybe we can meet up Saturday Morning. My boys are 6, 8 and 9. My nine yo will have a .22,  I am bringing my 16 gauge and the younger ones will bring their Red Ryder BB guns.

Everything you need to know has been said already.  Deer are everywhere!  Big bucks are everywhere (for the most part... genetics).  You sir live close to prime hunting locations... no need to travel.  Spend your time scouting and hitting the woods and things will come together eventually.

Also, I wouldn't expect anyone on here to give me a hunting location.  They are hard to come by.  I wouldn't even want someone to mention the unit I like to hunt in.  There are sooo many hunters out there these days.  Even if someone mentions a county that is good there will be more people there. 

The only time I might ask for help is if I draw a OIL tag or a tag that is very difficult to draw. In that case I would be willing to help if I knew the area the person was hunting, it seems some people are willing to help others who have been waiting so long for an opportunity of a lifetime. 

Good luck with late season.  I will continue to hunt the areas close to home since that is where I have spent my time scouting.

 I'm willing to help you out, but I'm not realy sure what you're looking for. You mentioned public areas and SW gmus. Most the timberlands around here still have pretty good access for modern and late seasons, with exception of the PE Ell area mentioned, it's by permit only and that ship sailed long ago. Weyco and Sierra Pacific both have hotlines that will tell you what is open. Towards the coast more you have a mix of Raineer and state land, Raineer being by permit as well, so you would have to get a map and do some home work. If you had a more specific area in mind and have a question about access I would like to help you out if I could. I can understand the frustration of driving down and not being able find a place go, but there are alot of places you can go. I can't realy decide that for you.

Something to keep in mind is that many spots on the westside are only productive for a few years at most due to logging/reprod cycle. Vegetation grows so rapidly, places that were great clearcuts are quickly unhuntable. Places that were great timber are cleared. Most hunters that do really well on blacktails from year to year hunt relatively close to home and know their hunting areas intimately.  They spend enough time in the area to have on-going options when conditions change, as they always do. My
