Anybody running PIAA 5192s????
« on: November 07, 2013, 05:27:33 AM »
building a bumper for my hunting pickup looking at throwing on some really bright driving lights. I drive 20 miles of back gravel roads to work everyday and am tired of not seeing deer they are right in front of me. (with the bumper i wont matter as much just doent want to kill every helpless doe or fawn in my path) saw these lights thought they might be good. i know PIAA lights are really good just wondering if anybody is running the 5192s and what their thoughts were.

Just check to see if the alternator output is enough to run high lights two 300 watter's will be 50 amps.

I dont see a 5192 on there sight. I wanted to compare to the 520 yellow ion driving lights that Im running on my truck.
If there anything like my 520's you will love them on the dirt. My biggest complaint is on pavement the signs get too bright and almost hurt your eyes. If I forget to turn them off or get so used to them on and a on coming car comes by some have stopped because they cant see. Bad I know but it happend once. I really try not to use them on pavement.

I dont think you can go wrong. The 510 is a 4" and 520's are 6".

On a loooonnnnggggg straight stretch of dirt mine seem to reach out a mile! The 510 will be plenty Im sure.

i LOVED my piaa's!     on my '72 chevy i had Hella headlights with H4 55/100 bulbs and the two Piaa driving lights.  105w output each.  when i hit the high beams, 200 watts of headlights and 210 watts of driving lights really made it daylight!

i do agree, however, about some road signs glowing REALLY bad!   :chuckle:

and my alternator HATED me! :chuckle:  pegged the gauge every time!

Don't do it. I had some on my wrangler and they were nice, but there are much better options now days. Look at LED light bars. They use much less power and are way brighter.

I used to run aftermarket halogen lights in my headlights and piaas on my wrangler. Now on my truck I run DDM tuning hid headlights in my highs, lows and fogs. I only use all 6 bulbs on dirt roads. With all 6 on it is 10x as bright as the wrangler.

Rigid industries is the brand to get for LED light bars, but they are expensive. There are lots of cheaper brands.

A 10 inch Rigid has 4200 lumen at 40 watts. $340

Having said that, for halogens they are pretty dang bright. But halogens just don't compare these days.

check out the pics of the road on this link:

i would really like to run a light bar but the holes in my bumper are for 4 in round lights. I gues i could always cut them for a 6 in light bar.....? hmmm now the gears are really turning!

A dog pro friend from Indiana's buddy owns a Linex company. He's selling the Rigid 6" box lights for $200 a pair. I think I need a set soon.

Scott is the guys' name. I don't know him but am friends with Josh Ward, his buddy. He said to call for a great price on them anytime.

I put 4 Rigid Dually's on my truck. The little 2x2 inch lights. I've never been so happy with how friggin' bright they are. You wouldn't need your headlights if it was legal. I paid $320 w/shipping. Plug and play with 1568 LUMENS per light........
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............
