Predator callers..what do you have/want?
« on: November 07, 2013, 08:21:50 AM »
Hi All,

I have just finished reading all 38 pages on this particular forum. First I would like to thank each and every one of you that has shared your knowledge and stories about cougar/bobcat/coyote hunting. They have all been great reads, and very informative! As I have said in other of my posts, I just moved back to Washington after being gone since 1975, and I am LOVING getting back into hunting here! Finding and becoming a member of this site has been a boon, both in creating excitement for getting back out in the woods, and in the amount of information there is here! I LOVE deer hunting and it would seem that predator calling/hunting is a GREAT way to keep yourself in the woods longer then just the 2 week deer season each year, and something I would like to try!

After reading all of these posts it would seem that using a e-caller might be the way I want to go. Yes, I would for-go some of the satisfaction of actually "calling" in my own game, however, it looks like if you don't want to be continually changing your underwear keeping the prey out at a distance seems to make sense. Not that you can's have a close encounter using the e-caller, but it seems (from my reading here) like you have a better chance of bringing game in to 20-30 yards away by  using a e-caller set up out at that distance vs using a hand held call and having something sneak in on top of you. I would rather a cat target my e-caller then target me!  :yike:

So, my question to all of you is this: With all the brands/models of e-callers out there, what do YOU use? I know I will be going to Rainshadow to buy sounds, and his manuals so I can read and learn as much as I can before I ever step into the woods, but I would first like to figure out what brand/model/type of caller I want to get, and with the wealth of knowledge in this group I thought I would start here. I of course would LOVE to kill a cougar, but also would like to be able to hunt coyotes and bobcat.

What model/brand e-caller do you use? and if you aren't already using the one you want, what one would you like to have?

Thanks in advance for any help you might give!

I have a primos turbo dog. I'd like to have the boss dog but it's spendy for my income lol.  I make alot of my own calls on my computer. I also use hand calls as well. FYI I dont recomend going hunting with just an e-caller. Battery's die at the worst time, some times you need to use hand calls to steer your predators to your shooting lanes.

Thanks jasnt! I had not even thought about hand calls incase of battery failure! Like I said, trying to read everything I can find and teach myself before I ever head out! Thanks for the great advice!
