You only need your Good To Go pass for the toll.

Opening weekend of late archery is pretty crowded though nothing like rifle season, after that, the crowd thins out considerably, at least that's been my experience. I'll probably spend a couple weekends there again for this late season.

I spent the entire general archery season in this unit and was pleasantly surprised by the number of other hunters.  I'm not saying that I was alone, but there was nowhere near the folks I had expected.  On a typical day, if you walked just a mile or so past a locked gate, you were pretty much by yourself.  There were quite a few road hunters and guys just driving around waiting for an elk to jump into their truck but not many behind the gates that I was hunting.

I live in this unit and i always hunted it in the late season but the unit is nothing like it use to be. The elk are hunted from august to january, they give out around 500 cow tag es in this unit. The Health of the elk is very poor. Some of the lastelk we have taken have had no fat on them and the hoof disease is out of control. I know there is still a lot of elk in this unit and it does have some area where the elk health is better but our game department needs to do a better job managing this unit. I drive two hours from my place to hunt healthier elk and a lot better managed unit.

Yep, saw a pretty nasty one last year late season there! Still a lot of nice ones though. A LOT of hunters in the north end around Thanksgiving, but don't stray to far from camp. The old gravel-pit by Mossy rock had 16 campers/trailers last year! My son and I saw 1 hunter! Gotta leave the road! Agree with needing better mngmt for the unit!  :twocents:
