Cast and Blast!
« on: November 07, 2013, 05:11:36 PM »
I was told the other day that fishing and hunting at the same time was illegal. I looked all through the regs but couldn't find anything referring to it! I was just wondering if it is allowed! I hunt out at kapowsin and it looks like they just stocked it with around 2800 rainbows!

The only rule that I know of is that you can't hunt from a boat that is under power.  Not sure if the boat has to be completely stopped or just the motor shut off.  I think it has to be completely stopped.
It is what you meant it to be...

Yeah I read that one! I just want to throw out a power bait or a worm while we are waiting! Thanks!

The boat cannot be under power of a motor...It doesn't have to be stopped providing that the motion wasn't produced by the motor/engine....I've never seen anything in the Regs. that says it is illegal...I thought about trying that on the Columbia and then I realized if I actually get into a steelhead or something then I would have about 4-6 dozen decoy lines to tangle with.....

I was out there this morning wishing I had my fishing pole, a lot of trout jumping in the decoy spread

Exactly what was said here. Perfectly legal to do the two at the same time, just not hunting from a boat if it is under power. If you have been under power, you must wait for forward momentum caused by that power to cease before you can shoot. Boat can be drifting with wind or current though, thats fine.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

You're good to go as long as you're not under power...

We do it all the time on the river in my sled, we put in at first light and drift down with no motor (just oars to right the boat) then blast at the dumb birds that let us get close enough for a shot. All the while casting spinners for Silvers or anchor up and run bait divers for steelies & shoot at the flyers. It's a hoot...
If I killed every thing I shot at, I'd be Phat!!!

In that video, if they would have ran two long lines, they probably would have shot a bunch more ducks.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
