martin lynx magnum specs
« on: November 07, 2013, 07:19:25 PM »
i bought a martin lynx magnum a few months ago and just recently shot it, the bow is either at the lowest draw weight it can go to or close to it. anyways it seems like it is harder to pull back than 55 pounds should be and when i took it to the archery guy in big R he pulled it back and said that it was set at 70 pounds. does anyone know what the low end of the draw weight is on one of these bows?

I have a older lynx mag with the oblong energy cams. It maxes out at about 65lbs. Not sure which cams you have they also came with flight wheels and your limbs may have been changed out for more horse power? If RadSav on here doesn't chime in send him a PM. He's very knowledgeable about this stuff. Good luck!!!!

I checked all my reference stuff and I have nothing from Martin that far back so I have to go by memory.  If memory is correct, which is always a risk to assume these days, the Lynx Magnum was available 45-60 or 55-70#.  I do not remember them ever offering it with an 80# maximum option.  String length I believe was 37" on both.  Guys these days probably feel the draw weight is more since the let-off is 50-60% and they are not used to that.  Big "R" would not be my establishment of choice if trying to figure out specs on an older bow.  Might need to get to a long standing pro-shop for that.  If you absolutely need accurate specs I can always call Terry Martin.  He would know for sure, but I expect he might be a little hard to reach right now with all the things that are going on over there in Walla Walla.

Sorry I was unable to be more definite and specific.  Good Luck!
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Actually I have my lynx in the shop right now. When I dropped it off it was set at 63lbs. The stcker on the lower limb said 55 - 70 lbs. 50% let off or 65% depending on which pivot hole in the flight wheels. Since I have not shot it since '92 I asked for the bow to be set to 55lbs so I can work on shooting form basics and get re-started on the right foot.

Just my 2 bits. Don
