Service battery charging system message on 07 Yukon
« on: November 09, 2013, 01:57:52 PM »
For the last few weeks my 5.3l flex fuel has been getting the service battery charging system read out.  It comes and goes.  It will reset itself.  Happens when I'm on the move or idling in a parking lot.  The other day I was parked waiting to pick my kid up from school.  Happened two or three times in about 10 minutes.

There hasn't been any issues with it starting or stalling, YET!  I've maybe noticed the headlights slightly flickering a few times, but that could have just been my vision.  The battery meter on the dash hovers around 14v, either just slightly below, or around 15v.

I replaced the battery to a 750CCA last weekend to see if that was the problem.  (It was running on the factory original, and was probably on limited time anyway).  I've checked the cable connections to the battery and they seem solid.  Voltmeter at the posts when idling hover at or above 14 as well.  The ECM was replaced the summer before last.  Belts see fine, but are the original as well.  Same with alternator.

Any suggestions or experience with this?

Had that problem on my wife's old 07 equinox.  And after 1500 bucks they figured it out.  It was a lower fusible link on the battery cables.  Replaced other things before that. Good luck!
