Had the first snow at the old house last week.  Thanksgiving is always good, the bucks will be full swing.  There was a huge winter kill on the island last year, the north end survival was way beter than the south end, I think the number was 60%.  There are a ton of forkys and young 3 points running around (2-3 year olds) that did not starve after the rut last year.  What part of the island will you be hunting? Kodiak road system or out of one of the villages.  I grew up in Port Lions and know the north end of the Island like the back of my hand.

A Kodiak island deer hunt is something that's been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. Good luck, I'll be looking forward to some stories

Three things for sure: You will have an awesome hunt, You will have an encounter with a big brown bear, and you will want to go back again each year.    I will be headed up again next year. Here are some bucks from the past few hunts.

The "dinner bell" is a real thing, but if you are gettin after them with archery tackle and have got a local that guides for bears you got nothing to worry about. You will have an awesome hunt and at least a couple chances to tag a deer that will make the book. Good Luck Man! Go get it Done!
