Chukars, Huns, & Deer oh my!
« on: November 10, 2013, 11:31:59 PM »
Spent the day in eastern WA running up and down the hills. We ended the day with a two coveys of chukar, two coveys of huns, and a bunch of deer. Last covey was only three birds, so we just scared'em. In fact we scared a bunch of them, but we had a great time.

Looks like a good time. I wish my weekend had been like that. Maybe next week.

Merkleman the pic was a young of the year. Must have been a late brood. Still a chukar though.

The central part... lol. We were definitely off the beaten path (I am super sore today and had cramps last night). Even though there wasn't much wind the birds were in the side canyons. I noticed there was a lot of cheat grass in those canyons on the east facing slopes.

I noticed the same. 2 of the last five birds were small yearlings.
