Eager Student
« on: November 12, 2013, 11:23:13 PM »
Didn't want to hack other threads on the same topic. I'm new to hunting and I wanted to go out this year for deer/elk. Unfortunately that ship has sailed unless someone has a permit for another time later. I'd love to tag along with anyone just to learn how to hunt, track animals, read the land, etc.  I grew up in a family that didn't do any hunting so I'm learning everything first hand.

I have a modern rifle and I'm primarily looking to hunt for meat. I couldn't care less about trophies on the wall, those can go to those who would really appreciate it. I just want some good quality meat and a good time outdoors.

If anyone has a later hunt and doesn't mind bringing a fresh face to the mix, I'd be happy to help. I'm young and in shape, so keeping up won't be a problem and I don't crimp your game out there either. Your hunt, your rules.

Or if anyone wants to shed information at the range and just casually spread information about hunting that way, and marksmanship, that's great too

It's a little late this year unless someone has a special permit. It's a good idea to try this post in the spring and perhaps we could help you out. You're info isn't very specific and you also didn't say whether you had a Hunter's Education Certification for your hunting license. Keep reading Hunt-WA and ask a lot of questions and you'll be more prepared for the coming season. Good luck!

I know it says Seattle, but are you actually in Seattle or near Seattle? The marksmanship part I can help you on. The hunting part, well I am not doing that great at it this year so..  :dunno: Starting in the spring of 2014 we can get up and shoot, I can teach you the fundamentals and what not. I will also be out scouting in the woods all the way til next Deer season. Just let me know!
