« on: November 14, 2013, 08:34:27 PM »
been so busy with hunting season havent even had a chance to shoot it yet.  just now took it apart and cleaned / oiled it.    anybody else have one of these?  what are your thoughts on ammo / holsters etc?

It's on my list but I've been waiting for the new DC to come out. I've held them and read up on them, really excited to get one. I'd love to hear how you like it, the only bad thing I've found is it sounds like they can be picky about ammo.

everything ive read and watched on it says use 124 or 147 grain hollow points.  even paperwork that comes with the gun says that.  using lighter bullets causes problems.  i picked up a couple boxes of one of the recommended types, so whenever i get a chance here well see how it shoots.  i had never had a chance to hold one, and just found one at cabelas sitting on the shelf.  seized the moment.

I have shot the light ammo out of mine and it feeds just fine (115 gr).  I will warn you....These little guns are violent!!  Hold on tight otherwise you will likely crap your pants as you almost drop the little buggers.  It is well documented that they buck like a wild bronc, way more than one would think.

With that being said after a few hundred rounds it becomes very manageable.  If you ever need a great conceal holster look up Gunfightersinc.com  I have a holster by adam and absolutely love it.  Matter of fact think I have a few pics of it on here somewhere.

by all means please post the pics.  i just ordered one of the stinger holsters off kimbers website while i was ordering one of the 8 round extended magazines.  i kind of figured this would be a bit of a snappy gun.  17oz 9mm has to kick a little huh?

I would get some texture on that frontstrap....skateboard tape....something.
Same for the MH if it's not stippled.

I've been looking at the Kimber Solos and the Springfield EMPs, not sure which one I'll buy when it is time. I like the size of these two guns. The EMP comes in 9mm or 40 Cal. There are a few other makes & models of guns that are particular of what feeds through them, It's not a bad thing, just stick with what works.

These small compact guns are designed to be used as a carry gun that is easily concealed, they are no made for pleasure shooting. When your life is on the line the sharp recoil will be the last thing on your mind.
Your better off with something like thisKimber Solo or a Springfield EMP and carry it everyday then a Commander size 1911 that you'll carry only on occaison because it's to big to conceal and a little to heavy to be comfortable.

Let up know how many hang-ups you have and what kind of ammo you were useing at the time,
Nice choise of firearm.

Congrats, I really hope it works out for you.

If you're thinking about one, research the quality and reliability issues with the Solo before you commit to buying one.

well so far ive gone through 3 boxes of ammo without problems (federal premium 124gr hydra-shok jhp), and im shooting much better with it than i anticipated.  it is a little snappy but not half as bad as i thought it would be.  i ordered the extended 8 round magazine and makes a huge difference in hand feel without really making it much bigger for concealing purposes.  might be a little early to tell for sure but so far im really digging it

Early models had a ton of problems......that were addressed and fixed.  I have had absolutely no problem with mine (so far) and absolutely love it for conceal purposes.

I was really impressed with the EMP in 9mm.  Looked at the .40 too, but the recoil spring was really stiff in the .40... I didn't get either one, but I'd get the 9mm one if I was going to get one.  They were about $1000 then, and even spendier now,  but what a beauty!
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"
