Thanks folks!  We are really looking forward to tomorrow.  Yeah, I have to say that both of my girls are very kind hearted and think of others before themselves.  We consider my daughter's friend as our own kid as well.  Hopefully we will have a couple of bucks down and 2 very happy girls tomorrow!  We have 30-40 mph winds and rain right now, it should be perfect for hunting blacktails in the NW jungle!

That would make me proud too! I cant wait for my daughter to beable to hunt! Just acouple more years to go!

Thanks for all the kind words everybody!  We gave it our all today with no luck.  We covered several miles of wetside jungle and 10 year old reprod on foot.  We snuck up on a doe and stayed with her for an hour 1/2 or more with no other deer around.  We set up next to a big marsh surrounded by timber and a super fresh rub.  Rattled something in but all we could tell is that it sounded like a doe came in and a buck followed and mounted her.  We heard what sounded like a doe laboring and another deer, probably a buck grunting and tearing up the ground.  The brush was so thick that we couldn't see a thing and once the grunting and groaning stopped they left.  We could not call them back for anything even with a good scent trail and the wind (about 20 mph) in our faces.  Maybe we didn't give the buck enough time for his refractory period.    We are working on details for tomorrow.  It might be myself, my daughter, her best friend and the son of another friend, all of them under 13.  If I can keep them from being goofballs in the woods (save that for the truck  ), it should be a fun time.  If we are not able to fill any tags tomorrow, I have promised that one weekend very soon I will give all the kids a coyote clinic and teach them how to call and snipe song dogs.

Good luck tomorrow and the coyote hunting is a great idea. Gives the kids the chance to hunt out side of our short deer season and when they connect it does great things for the confidence of the kids...worked great for mine anyway  .

Well, all plans kinda fell apart yesterday.  My daughter's bestest friend decided to go road hunting with her Grandpa and my buddie's son went out for about 2 hours with his Dad in the morning.  Neither one of them saw any deer.  My Daughter and I took a little hike in the morning monsoon and discovered that the deer were in hiding and not willing to come out and play no matter how hard we tried.  We decided to take a road trip to dry out (both soaked to the drawers) and find a completely new area to try as a last ditch effort. Unfortunately, all we found was Weyco and Western Pacific land that was either permit only or walk in, which would have fine except for the 5 rigs at every gate, or state land that was closed due to vandalism.  We wound up driving through 3 counties looking or land to hunt before we got fed up.    We should have gone to Shelton where I know there is open land instead but we wanted to try something new.  Oh well, my daughter still has late muzzy elk.  Unfortunately, her friend is done for the year for big game.  We still have coyotes and a BB gun shoot to look forward to keep them in the game.
