Bucks with Does?
« on: November 17, 2013, 01:11:22 PM »
Sorry for the elementary question.

The area I was in last night had a handful of does pop out near last light. Is that a good or bad sign? I simply do not know if at this time of year and bucks and does will not be around each other and thus I need to try somewhere else.

I was in the NE corner this weekend and we got two nice Whitetails.  One was feeding by himself and was ignoring the does in the area and one was trailing a doe.  Down in Vancouver it might be a little late to see rutting action.  But it is always good to see deer, especially black tails.

Just depends if the does are in estrus....I seen a spike chase a doe yesterday and a 2 pt cruise through a clearcut with his nose to the ground the whole time and today I seen 15 does and a couple with yearlings and no bucks around

Seen a rutted up crab claw buck yesterday with a harem of 11 does and few fawns. Almost took him home but didn't.

Seeing deer of any kind while hunting deer is always a good sign to me. As long as you do not scare off the does, having them near you can't really do any harm.
