Congrats Drock!  Every kid needs a dog to grow up with.

Dixie is a good name.  Make sure it's a name you wouldn't be embarrassed to repeat when calling for her in the field.  I've heard a few doozy's over the years.  You might wait until you've had her for a week or so and let her personality drive the name you pick.

Name, oh God! I sold a GSP pup to a guy in Alaska years ago that turned to a dark liver roan. He came back by to show me his puppy and he'd named it Brownie! I wanted to give him back his money! Yea, dixie sounds good.

Well the hound is a little over 4 months old now.  She is getting big fast. She even got her first swimming lesson a while back.

Yeah she is all about her ball.

Not the ball.  Anything resembling a bird?  If you need some wings to attach to a retrieving dummy or something I can give you some.  You need to get the taste and feel of a bird familiar with her.  This is not the whole answer, but it would be a start.
