15 yard Head Cam Muley Kill - Spot and Stalk
« on: November 23, 2013, 09:50:20 AM »
Here is the short video of the closest buck I had ever arrowed at 15 yards on a spot and stalk muley hunt.  100% Film It Yourself with the CamStrap Universal Head Cam Mount by Solvid FIY. Check out our other films to watch the best POV hunting videos in existence at http://SolvidFIY.com

Close Range POV Archery Mule Deer Hunting - Solvid FIY

I have since arrowed a closer buck, two days ago at 13 yards; late WA archery muley. Unfortunately I failed to hit record on the CamStrap and compromised the best hunting head cam footage ever! It has been a rough couple days, luckily my bro got it on film from 50 yd and it is awesome, but not what the POV footage would have been. Video to come...

That was pretty cool. But for the most part. To me,was just to hard on the eyes to watch. Too much motion and blur, along with what I guess are the heat waves.

Thanks. The conditions were some of the toughest I have filmed in, mostly due to the heat waves and the distance during the panorama footage, but that was as close as I could get the tripod without going through private property. Then at the shot, he was in the shadows and I was in the sun, so I had to play with the settings a little. To top it off, YouTube doesn't do the greatest job; it looks much better right off the computer.

I liked it, was it a liver shot? three hours is hell to wait to track for me  :bash: especially on a buck like that

I thought the hit looked great on contact, but as he crested the ridge just as he was leaving sight, I could see the arrow hanging on by the fetching, and it appeared to be in the liver area; the lack of blood confirmed this. Must have been the angle he was standing with his body turned. The arrow ended up clipping the back of a lungs and mangled his liver. I doubt he lived very long, but blood was very tough to find, possibly because he was moving pretty fast and went straight down hill. You can see the arrow sticking out in the original video, but YouTube's quality is such that it is very hard to see.

It is hard to wait, but easier for me than going in too soon. Thanks for the input.

They are beginning to stack up for the old XT. Just got the WA tag filled the other day. Would have been the best POV hunting video ever but I made a rookie mistake and failed to hit record. Luckily my bro was 50 yards away and he took his CamStrap off and zoomed in on me for the 13 yard shot.

Beautiful buck and I really enjoyed the video. I didn't mind the heat trails as it just made you feel like you were there. Nice stalk. You were able to get pretty darn close.
rather be hunting a blacktail

Nice buck, what camera did you use to record the footage?

CamStrap - Panasonic hcv700
Panorama cam - Panasonic tm90k
Digiscope (very begining) - Olympus TG1

The Panasonics' current price equivalent is an HCV720, which is better yet with more features and zoom.  The TG1 has been replaced by the TG2, which are basically the same.
