Capitol Forest cougar killed buck
« on: November 24, 2013, 10:39:27 AM »
While helping a friend with a late permit I found this buck carcass on a trail a few yards off the road. I am guessing it was killed by a cougar.

It is a bit hard to tell exactly when it was killed but we were in this same spot two weeks ago and it was not there. There was basically nothing edible left and a few leg bones are missing. Though partially frozen, it still stunk but the hair on the head was still firmly rooted.

There was no coyote sign around, but there was a pile of bobcat crap a few hundred yards up the road.

The last few years I have had a camera less than a quarter mile away in the area for bobcats and last year I got this short video of a cougar.

Big Kitty

And the year before I got a few videos of a cougar in the same spot.

So happy that you shared your videos. I was sitting here on my desktop with my feet up and our 1 year old black male cat had came up and was lying on my legs. When I started watching your second video it caught the cats attention. He quit purring and his eyes got all big staring at my monitor. Right near the end of the video I startled the cat by touching his rear end and going "FFFT" really loud.

The cat leaped off of me 3 feet up and sideways into the wall leaving scratch marks in the paint. :IBCOOL: I had tears in my eyes and am still laughing. Have not seen the cat, he is gone...somewhere :chuckle:

What would I do with a dink rack like that? Besides, it makes for a great tcam setup. Hopefully I will get some video of the cat on at least one of cams I have in the area.
