Kitsap/Mason co Pope land

Anyone hunt this area for grouse. looking to take kid out there this weekend. trying to get him his first bird....deer/bear didn't cooperate so have to *censored* gears.

Not good.
Pretty much was hunted out many years ago.
There are almost no grouse on our peninsula.... almost.
I mean, there are a few birds, but it will take you forever to find 'em.
I've only seen 2 birds my whole life on kitsap peninsula.

You would have much better luck crossing the hood canal, or going south past shelton.

I agree with bigluke.  There are very few grouse here in kitsap and north mason county.  Very few quail as well.  Just not a bird hunters paradise.

While certainly not a lot of them, the pheasant hunters used to get a few when they had release sites off of Sand hill rd. and Used Car rd. We got one while out scouting for deer on a gated road off of Sand hill a few years back.
Take the boy out you might get lucky, either way it should be a good time. May as well enjoy it while it is all still free to hunt  :twocents:.
