Whudda mean "for a first bear"? I would be proud to take it for my 100th bear. Congrats! They're delicious, specially after smok'in! Looks like "little bro" has grown up.

well the story is as follows,,,
we were on our old power line canyon up in northern stevens county... it was the last day of mule deer and we spotted a doe and her two fawns bedded on a hillside... the whole time we watched her from daylight for three hours or so, she seemed to have an alternative agenda... snorting and weezing, stomping and grunting... this doe was not happy... we noticed her fawns fixated on this large patch of timber just 50 yards below them: at this point we were convinced there was a big mule buck down in that timber just making them nervous... so i drew the short straw and was apointed to brush man for our flawless flush plan... so down i headed towards the timber to flush ths draw to my bro and dad... no more than thirty feet and i heard the 30-06 crack off... at first i expected a giant mule buck down until i heard the all so familiar roar of the majestic black bear.... three shots at 150+ yards straight down hill and the bear met his demize... We were 3 miles in on foot and the hottest day of hunting season made the pack out a fast and furious situation.... all in all these kind of hunts make it all worth while.... i will be mounting it 3 quarter open mouth this winter.... i only hope we can do it again next year....
