So yesterday, I found the new screens at a place in Portland, along with a brush designed to clean the crap out of the tubes. I reamed out the tubes and replaced both the screens and the thing runs like a charm. As a matter of fact, the burner which was still working is now working better with the new screen. The repair cost me $30 + gas, instead of $100+ for a new heater. Nice!

Thanks everyone for your input.

Now it is cigar time a nice 6 X 60 (Phat 0ne) and wine/beer.

Oh yeah. I had a couple of cigars last night, some Crater Lake Vodka. Yeah baby.

My first Mr Heater had a similar problem, first time I took everything apart and cleaned it out. That worked for another deer season. Second time I got half way through taking it apart again and said to heck with this my time is worth more then what I was saving, so I caved and bought a new one for $79.
This one has been going strong for 6+ years in my deer camp tent.

My gas fireplace wouldn't fire up and the word I got was "it is probably the thermocouple".   I wondered how someone could come up with that without even checking what the issue really is.

Repairman called..... and it was the thermocouple.   Because of how the factory originally routed things the inside of the fireplace needed to be disassembled to replace and route the thermocouple.

Yes... it's probably the thermocouple if the pilot light is hard to get to stay on and keeps going out when you try to switch it over to "on".

$104 is the approximate cost of a new thermocouple.

My latest catalog from Cabala's sells the heater for not much more then the cost of your thermocouple. Not sure is its' the same model or not. came in one of there small xmas door busters.

Yeah, mine's the dual burner, not a "Buddy" heater, just a Mr. Heater tank top.
