Please take me seriously.
« on: November 26, 2013, 08:09:30 AM »
Hey hunters--here is something you probably don't hear often. I need help. serious help. I hunted early and late season and had no success. The problem I have is I can't get over the deer fever. I was thinking by now I would be alright but is is not happening. All I can think and talk and dream about is deer hunting and now is really gotten crazy cause the season is  over for me. If anyone ever has experienced this kind of thing please help me. I don't drink or smoke or watch T.V. I'm just a family guy but I think my family is feeling sorry for me cause all It comes up out of my mouth is deer deer and more deer.
Horrible.
Thanks  :bash: :bash: :bash:

hello my name is eddie an i'm going through deer withdrawal. :bash:
im with you man its gotten better over the past weeks but for at least a month or so after i knew i wouldent be able to hunt all the could talk or think about was deer. im just focusing on finding better areas for next year, and planning right now. having a 5 month old at home keeps me plenty busy too. if it makes you feel better im suffering as you are.

Its not always about the kill, just enjoy your hunt!!!
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Get into coyote hunting.  It gives you something to focus your energy on in the off season, with the added benefit of helping deer fawns next spring.     Then hit it hard next year deer hunting.

:yeah:
I use coyote hunting and fishing to fill the void.  Winter steelies are almost here and we are coming up on the best time of year to hunt predators!!!!  :IBCOOL:

Go hunt something else, coyotes, bobcats, grouse, turkey, elk, cougar...

I had similar feelings back when I was a kid.  I was insane about deer hunting and that was all my Dad did as far as hunting went.  I started to read the regs when i was about twelve and realized how many seasons were open for most of the year.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Just cause you can't shoot a deer doesn't mean your deer season is over! Head out and scout, find out where the deer are and be prepared for next year

Not sure if you can swing it or not, or if it up your alley, but ever thought of doing a meat hunt out of state with Bearpaw? Some late doe hunts in other states may still be avail.
And as stated, there is plenty of "hunting" to be had other than deer....
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

The fever doesn't end just because you got something.  I got my buck on opening day, I almost feel like I didn't get to hunt enough.  Now is the time to prep for next year, upgrade your gear, plan out your camp, study google earth and topo maps to find new spots, before you know it it'll be time to get back at it and you'll be more ready than ever.  Do something with your fever, don't just sit there and stew on it.
